This article provides instructions connecting to Gravity Forms, a third-party integration not developed or supported by Emma.

These instructions are for those with a Gravity Forms account, which gives your email subscribers the ability to flow from your WordPress signup form into your Emma account. For additional help, please contact Gravity Forms Support.

Adding the Gravity Forms Integration

You will need your Emma account ID and API key pair in order to set up this integration. If you have not generated an API key pair, follow the instructions in the linked article to do that now.

	If you have a tiered account, then you will need the subaccount ID, not the parent account ID, in order to set up the integration.

 

Once you've collected your API key pair and account ID, please refer to Gravity Forms for step-by-step instructions on setting up the integration.

Important Information About Gravity Forms and Fields

In Emma, numeric type fields can only accept numbers and decimal points - they cannot accept any other characters. This is important because Gravity Forms will automatically send certain character types with some fields that are not compatible with Emma's number fields.

Phone number is a good example of this behavior. If you add a phone number field to a form created with Gravity Forms, it will include hyphens and parentheses with the phone number when it send that information to Emma. This is the default behavior and it seems to be unpreventable. As a result, it is vital that you do not map the phone number to a numeric field, otherwise, the form will be unable to add a contact who enters their phone number to Emma.

A good way to work around this is to create fields with the short answer type in Emma, instead of the numeric type. The short answer field type does not have the same character limitations as the numeric field type, so a phone number with hyphens and parentheses won't cause problems if it's mapped to a short answer field.
